The business has an indirect impact on the environment through its third party Supply chain. Steps have been taken to address this impact, by:
Establishing a training programme for our procurement teams in responsible purchasing practices.
Asking our suppliers to register with SEDEX, 'Supplier Ethical Data Exchange'. This enables companies to manage the ethical and responsible practices of their suppliers. It focuses on four pillars: Labour Standards, Health & Safety, Environment and Business Integrity.
Whitbread has 127 food suppliers and to date 17 of these have joined SEDEX and linked with Whitbread.
