We benchmark our performance against other companies by participating in the 'Business In the Community' Corporate Responsibility and Environment Indices. These indices help us to identify how we can improve our performance.
Energy Efficiency Accreditation

Whitbread is an Energy Efficiency Accredited Company. The Energy Efficiency Accreditation Scheme (EEAS) is an independent emission reduction award scheme, operated by the Carbon Trust and recently superseded by the Carbon Trust Standard. The EEAS recognises the achievements of businesses in reducing their energy consumption. Whitbread's overall score improved from 69% in 2004 to 83% in 2007.

Whitbread is listed in the FTSE4GOOD Index, which measures the performance of companies that meet globally recognised corporate responsibility standards.
Carbon Disclosure Project

The Company participates in the Carbon Disclosure project, which facilitates a dialogue and engagement on climate change and plays a vital role in encouraging companies to measure, manage and reduce carbon emissions.
Packaging Award

Costa's new hot food packaging has received the Food Service Packaging Association's product innovation award. Developed in partnership with packaging manufacturer BCP Fluted Packaging, it is made from the same Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) paper as Costa's takeaway cups and is fully sustainable and recyclable.
